Abhiruchi Institute of Physical Education (AIPE) is a post graduate college established under the aegis of 'Abhiruchi', a registered NGO, devoted to the cause of promotion of games and sports in Assam, in the year 2008 for the first time in Assam to impart quality physical education. The institute has been registered under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 (No. 2975 of 1988-89).The Education Department, Government of Assam has accorded approval for setting up the Abhiruchi Institute of Physical Education. It is worth mentioning that the Gauhati University has kindly provided permission and affiliation to conduct B.P.Ed. (Bachelor of Physical Education) course of two (2) year duration, B.P.E.S. (Bachelor of Physical Education & Sports) course of three (3) year duration. The Regional Director, ERC, National Council for Teachers' Education (NCTE) Bhubaneshwar has Recognised our Institution (AIPE) to conduct B.P.Ed. course with 100 intake.

To explore hidden potentials of different sports categories for ensuring maximum utilization of their potentialities. To provide opportunity to rural sports talents to get exposed for further nurturing. To popularise the concept of Physical Education and sports science in the region. To bring hopes and aspiration to the misguided and frustrated youths of the NE region. To develop amongst the youths a sense of pride in nationality, patriotism, democracy, sociolism and secularism. To generate a team of sports talents of international standard on different sports events.
